59 year old male who purchased this machine in hopes of getting a good workout indoors. I received this treadmill 5 weeks ago and I am very pleased with the quality of build and with how intense my workouts have been. If you are thinking about purchasing this treadmill, some things you need to know and they are all positive. I was very concerned about purchasing a non traditional treadmill but now I will never go back to using one. Once this reverse treadmill is delivered to you and once you get it all set up and you are ready to try it for the first time, IF YOU GO SLOW, USE IT CORRECTLY AND WITH THE RIGHT ATTITUDE AT FIRST, this thing will work your a** off in both forward and reverse, once you get the hang of it. You just have to get used to it, which truly doesn't take that long. Next, unlike a traditional treadmill, YOU will have to do ALL the work but this is the reason you get a treadmill, right? Third, I am 5' 11 and I weigh 270 pounds and this machine handles my weight with zero problems. Yes, if I were much taller, then I would want to consider something else but up to 6' 1" maybe 6'2" you should be ok. And at 270 pounds and with correct form, it does not shake/wobble/etc. It's very sturdy. The last positive review I want to share is that I don't have knee problems and I didn't purchase this treadmill for that reason alone. I was hoping it would serve as my "regular" all purpose treadmill where I could get the benefits of both forward and reverse walking and I am very happy with how it meets and exceeds my needs and with how intense my workouts can be. You only need a few minutes on this machine to realize you get more of a workout than you do walking outside. It feels like you are walking uphill. I read all the reviews before purchasing and watched all of the youtube videos and I just felt like the gentleman running the kneesovertoesguy channel was sincere and had my best interests in mind when sharing his information and experiences and I am pleased to say I still feel this way after this purchase.
Wow! This is excellent to hear! We are so happy that you have been able to see many benefits using the Backward Treadmill to really elevate your training! Your support and feedback is much appreciated :)
Heavy materials so I assumed sturdy, but as I used it, it was super rickety. My wife was cracking up given the noises this thing was making as it shook. I'm medium height and weight, so not a big guy, but something isn't right here. I assembled it as outlined, tightened all the bolts, checked it many times over, etc., so I feel pretty confident this isn't user error.
I'm a big fan of KOT and have recommended the program to several people. It's why I ordered this through ATG - but this is an iteration (or several) too early / not market ready
Hello reaching out because I’m truly disappointed with my purchase of the Backward Treadmill.
I bought this product after doing a lot of research and with real hope that it would help me as a young athlete dealing with knee pain. I’m doing everything I can to improve get back to sports so this was a meaningful purchase for me.
Unfortunately the treadmill has been a let down. It is much louder than expected, does not feel as smooth or stable as I thought (tightened every screw but still feels like it’s about to drop) and overall quality not up to par with what I expected. In addition one of the screws was missing so I’m unable to fold the treadmill for space in my apartment. One of the rubber pieces that prevents scratching my floor is also missing, ugh frustrated to say the least.
Have purchased other products like the slant board since my 2023 surgery that I love but this one just did not hit the same, simply not satisfied. Unlucky me I guess!
I bought the ATG backwards treadmill because I love Ben Patrick’s stuff and figured this thing, along with my other training, would turn my knees into titanium hinges.
Instead it turned my patience into dust.
First off, I’m 6′3″ and over 200 pounds for reference, and walking on this thing feels like doing balance drills on a folding ironing board. The frame flexes enough that I briefly wondered if the workout was actually “ankle stability training.”
And when you actually start walking on it, the whole thing creaks like a haunted house floorboard. Every step sounds like the treadmill is filing a formal complaint with management. I even attached a video because it honestly sounds like the machine is begging me to stop. Yes, I have checked and tightened every possible connection point too!
Then came today’s highlight.
I tried moving the treadmill across the floor. Not up stairs. Not across gravel. Across the flat floor.
Two of the footers immediately fell off.
Two of the end caps also decided they had dreams of freedom and joined them.
So now my treadmill leaves a trail of parts behind it like it’s marking its own territory.
The resistance system is also incredible. Not in a good way. It’s just a knob. You turn it and… something happens. Maybe more resistance. Maybe less. Maybe nothing. There are no numbers, no markings, no clue where you are.
If two people use the treadmill, good luck. You’ll both be guessing like you’re cracking a safe. I didn't realize how obnoxious this would be until I used it.
Moving it is also a workout because there are no wheels. So every time you want to move it you basically deadlift a small bridge.
Yes, it folds up, but the folding mechanism requires unscrewing and screwing a long pin every single time. I feel like I’m assembling IKEA furniture before every workout.
The belt also refuses to stay aligned. I followed the instructions and tried adjusting it, but it still wanders around like it’s sightseeing.
Honestly, if I could go back in time I would just buy a cheap treadmill and walk backwards on that while stacking books under the front.
Or maybe try the Sled Shred from the Tib Bar guy. I haven’t tried it, but at this point I’d trust a wooden plank with a rope attached.
I was genuinely excited for this thing. I bought the ATG shoes, I follow the program, I was ready to become a backwards-walking legend.
Instead I got a wobbly treadmill that slowly disassembles itself.
Five stars for knee rehab philosophy.
One star for the treadmill.
...but what do I know, I’m just a guy on the internet walking backwards.

Treadmill is ok but if you're tall, I'm 6,6 ft and treadmill is slim, not wide and not very heavy. Description of this item should've been better. I feel like it wasn't described as well and it's not super easy putting back in the box.
Adam, we are very sorry that you are unhappy with your Backward Treadmill, but thank you for letting us know. Customer satisfaction is our top priority—we have sent you an email to try to make this right!
